Dr. Mathews John. MBBS, MS, F.MAS, D.MAS

Dr. Mathews JohnCONSULTANT GENERAL AND LAPAROSCOPIC SURGEON

After doing graduation (MBBS) from BLDEAs Medical College, Bijapur,   he did his Masters in Surgery (MS) from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore and was awarded the diploma and fellowship in Laparoscopy from Wales University and TGO University. Having qualified as a General Surgeon he honed his surgical skills in Karnataka for three year, gratefully accepting and learning from the rich and varied experience that a busy public hospital in Bangalore and Mangalore has to offer. He joined Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore in 2007 as an Assistant Professor in Department of General Surgery. In his quest for excellence, he visited some of the best medical centers in the world. However, all through his brief but blossoming surgical career, there remained a large void within him for his inability to alleviate post-operative sufferings from large surgical incisions.

Minimally Invasive Surgery for gall bladder removal was tentatively introduced for the first time in France in 1989. It has since fired the imagination of enterprising surgeons throughout the world. Minimally Invasive Surgery offered tiny incisions, less pain, early hospital discharge and earlier returns to work for patients. Dr.Mathews was quick to realize the tremendous potential in it and acquainted himself with the basics of Minimally Invasive Surgery with the pioneers in the field of Minimally Invasive Surgery. He has extensively traversed the length and breadth of the country, attending numerous workshops, conferences and initiating many post graduates into the art of Minimal Access Surgery.

He now established Department of General surgery and Minimal Access in Lifeline Hospital, Adoor which is the first and only one of its kinds in whole of Kerala and his Aim is to develop this hospital as an Institute of Laparoscopy where he can give the best world standard surgical treatment for his patients.

A dedicated group of senior doctors are there to support him with their superspecialities – Pediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical oncology and Urology.
